Never have I been tempted to take a ride on an ATV, Side By Side, RZR, UTV, or whatever else these crazy little vehicles are called. But when you’re a wife, and a mom of two boys, and you’re in the mecca of outdoor adventure – Moab, Utah – it’s easy to be convinced. We needed a day off from hiking, so we called a few shops to figure out if anyone could accommodate our family for a UTV tour the same day. Luckily, Moab Tour Company came through for us. They were able to pick us up from our RV Park and they had us on the trail by 9:30am.
We rented a 4-seater RZR (pronounced Razor) by Polaris. We chose the option where we got to drive, but we followed a guide on the trail.
If we weren’t following the guide, we would have turned around at the first hill and headed straight back to the rental shop. There is no way I would have let Brian drive on/over/down those obstacles without seeing it done first. I would have bet a million dollars that we would flip! It is crazy what these little cars are capable of. Somehow they just stick to the rock/dirt and keep going. That is not to say that I didn’t have white knuckles for the entire three hours we were out there!
We did two trails: Fins & Things as the “warm up” trail, then we went to Hell’s Revenge. Right from the beginning, it was intense! I kept saying “No way! There is no chance we can go over/up/down that!” but we always made it! We were all strapped in with seatbelts, wearing helmets and goggles. Dax was in his 5-point harness car seat. The only instruction they gave us was “keep everything inside the vehicle so if you flip you won’t get hurt”. Ummm, okay, will do!
We made a few stops along the way to check out the views and the dinosaur tracks! And so Dax could be radical, of course!
This is called the “Car Wash”. It’s basically a deep pit. We didn’t go through it, but other people do!
Brian drove the whole time… I wanted no part of that responsibility!
Obviously the pictures don’t do the experience any justice. We all had a blast and it was a really exciting adventure!
I took a ton of videos, but due to limited WiFi and cell signal, only two of the videos uploaded. I accidentally videoed holding my phone the wrong way on the second one, sorry. And I hope I was successful at muting the videos before I posted because nobody needs to hear me on constant repeat saying “Focus Brian, FOCUS!!!”.
After the UTV adventure, we took the boys to a local playground. We loved the musical section, and check out the type of graffiti found on playgrounds in Moab. I love it!
We ended the night at Moab Brewery! (Don’t worry, that is not beer that Dax is double-fisting!) What a fun day! If you ever find yourself in Moab, Utah (such a cool place), you must rent a RZR and take it out on the trails!
