From Yellowstone we drove to Grand Teton National Park. We had a float trip down the Snake River scheduled for 12 noon, and we arrived right on time. Between the road construction and steep mountain pass, the drive took way longer than we expected.
We chose to go with Dornan’s Float Trips for a couple of reasons. They are the only ones whose float trips spend the majority of the time inside the National Park, and Dax didn’t meet the age/weight requirements for some of the others.
We lucked out because our float trip down the Snake River was amazing! Our guide Jordan was super-informative, pointed out tons of wildlife, and provided an overall fun and entertaining experience for all of us.
It was so cool to see Grand Teton and the entire mountain range from the river. What a different perspective than hiking through the Park.
This was not a white water rafting trip, but anytime we experienced a bit of rough water, we threw our hands up and celebrated! Trent, of course, was the ringleader of these celebrations for the whole boat, haha.
We saw tons of bald eagles and their nests, some blue herons, deer, swallows and their nests, marmots, white pelicans (who knew they were in Idaho?! We’ve actually seen them in several places during our trip), and more.
My iPhone photos do not do the wildlife any justice. The scenery was spectacular and the river was gorgeous.
We loved our float trip; it was the perfect way to see Grand Teton National Park!
We were done by 4pm, just in time to check out one of the area’s breweries. The boys got a chance to run around and play, the dog and adults got a chance to relax. (Dax took the first pic below)
We’re looking forward to hiking in the Tetons tomorrow!
